Explore Tamsui at Your Leisure – A Joyful Getaway: Saturday for History, Sunday for Cycling

Where to go in the sweltering summer heat? To welcome the arrival of summer vacation, the New Taipei City Government Agriculture Bureau and the Tamsui District Fishermen's Association have joined forces to launch the “Explore Tamsui at Your Leisure” one-day fishing experience tour. The event includes a Saturday journey through Tamsui’s historic sites and a Sunday energetic cycling trip around Bali, combining Tamsui’s rich local tourism resources with traditional fishing culture and the Blue Highway, offering a “cool escape” in the river-sea meeting point of Tamsui. The event will take place on July 13, 14, 20, 21, and August 3, 4 — six days in total. Each session has 160 spots available, and the fee is NT$600 per person. Registration begins at 9:00 AM on June 3 on the Tamsui District Fishermen's Association website, and spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The public is invited to join in.

Liao Rong-ching, Director of the Agriculture Bureau, stated that promoting and supporting leisure fishery culture has always been one of the key policy directions of the city government. This year, during the summer vacation, two types of leisure fishery tour packages are being offered. The Saturday Tamsui tour is designed for those who enjoy seeking out hidden gems and historical sites, while the Sunday Bali tour is tailored for those who want to explore the ecological surroundings of Bali’s Left Bank at a leisurely pace by bike. Both the left and right banks of the Tamsui River have their own unique charm — choose the itinerary that suits you best. In addition to brand-new DIY crafting experiences and thrilling river-and-sea journeys, participants can also enjoy delicious fish port cuisine and special souvenirs carefully prepared by the local fishermen's association. Through this event, the city hopes to add value to traditional fisheries and transform them into leisure fishery offerings, creating new opportunities for the industry while giving the public a deeper understanding of Tamsui’s fishing culture.
