Super cute and photogenic — Yunlin’s “cat-painted” convenience store, where even the staff are feline-themed

During my last trip to Douliu in Yunlin, I dropped by Magic Cat House 7-11 Douliu Baozhuang Branch to experience this cat-themed 7-11. Not only can you get a lovely hug from “Karen Mok” (a reference to the popular cat character), but the combination of 3D paintings and real-life elements lets you feel the warm hugs from the kitty staff here too. You can also enjoy a complimentary extra-large cup of freshly brewed coffee. With a variety of fun murals, I had an amazing time taking photos.

Themed 7-11s have been around for a while, but I hadn’t made a special trip to visit one. This time, during my previous visit to Yunzhong Street Lifestyle Cluster in Douliu, Yunlin, I included a stop at Magic Cat House 7-11 Douliu Baozhuang Branch in my itinerary.

Both the exterior sides and the interior of 7-11 Douliu Baozhuang Branch feature cat-themed murals, each with a different theme, allowing you to enjoy a diverse range of feline art in one place. First up is the mural wall with the cat staff. If you couldn’t get a hug from “Karen Mok,” here you can embrace an adorable cat staff member with gentle eyes. Whether you want a front hug, a bear hug, or holding hands — any hug is fine, just no princess lifts because the cat’s arms might not hold up. The physical hand designs add a lively, interactive feel to the mural, making for even more fun photos.

My favorite is the one with the 3D coffee cup. With a cool pose, it has the vibe of someone who’s generous and doesn’t mind if you drink up. The uniform and name tag add charm, and the contrast yet harmony between the gentle and cool cat staff members is delightful.

The background scenery is also exquisitely done, almost making you feel like you’ve arrived in Jiufen.

After hugging, sipping coffee, and admiring the beautiful murals, it’s time to step inside the store.

There’s also a cat outside that can’t seem to find a way in. Photos from the front and back each offer a different feel.

The indoor seating area blends cats with scenic elements, making you feel like you’re dining abroad in a leisurely atmosphere.

The cat silhouettes above are also lively and charming.

The cat drinking CITY CAFE looks completely immersed in the aroma of coffee, with a convincing look of slight intoxication. Too bad the seat was taken, so I couldn’t get a full-body shot — I really wanted to share a cup of coffee with him.

Next, I headed outside to continue taking photos.

I was also holding one of 7-11’s currently popular hand-brewed teas. From oden, bento boxes, pure tea options to the instant noodle section in the back, and even courier services — unlike the classic old-style section, this area showcases a 7-11 fused with the essence of traditional Taiwanese convenience stores.

There’s also a cat walking by at the top of the frame.

On the other side is a 3D mural of the Cat Magic Forest. The blend of real objects and paintings allows you to take incredibly immersive photos.

Before entering the Magic Forest, you have to play rock-paper-scissors with a cat. Their funny expressions make winning or losing equally entertaining.

The 3D staircase design at the bottom makes it seem like you could step into the forest.

Hiding beside the stairs is a shy and alert little kitten.

Besides the sleeping kitties, there are also some with not-so-friendly intentions.

Hide-and-seek cats are waiting for everyone to find their hiding spots.

In the Magic Forest, you might even meet Harry Purr-mione, the cat version of Harry Potter.

Little White makes a surprising leap amid watchful cats — but what’s the fuss about? Oh, it turns out there’s fish being caught up ahead.

Next, check out another mural. A giant hole has appeared on the ground of the Magic Forest, so be careful while walking through the woods, or you might end up like the cat clinging to a vine, stuck and waiting for rescue.

The cool cat swordsman has a pitiful expression — I wonder if helping him up will earn you a scratch?

Another cat is holding onto a vine, while this one takes a direct plunge, as if the Magic Forest leads straight down to Douliu, Yunlin, without needing to exit the highway.

Since I visited in the morning, the sunlight was shining directly inside. Fortunately, there were clouds in the sky. I had to wait for them to block the sun before I could properly capture the floor murals, so photography was somewhat limited that day... ^^

The wall next to the cat staff is also being prepared for new murals. I wonder what theme they’ll feature — I’m very excited.
