Nestled near Shitiping in Hualien, there lies what is hailed as Taiwan’s most beautiful “swing,” set atop lush green grassland right by the sea. The breathtaking view of the sea meeting the sky is simply mesmerizing. This swing was actually created by the Necklace Coast Art Studio. The park not only features uniquely designed architecture and art installations but also offers a café and camping accommodations, all born by the sea.

The Necklace Coast Art Studio is located near Shitiping in Hualien, enjoying an exclusive view of the endless blue sea and sky. It functions as both a café and an art studio, filled with artistic paintings and decorations that create the unique charm of Necklace Coast. Its sign is not very prominent, and if you’re not paying close attention, you might easily miss this hidden gem of eastern Taiwan.

Why is it called “Necklace”? In fact, Necklace is the name of the place—it’s a small bay by Shitiping on the East Coast. The Necklace studio was created by three siblings from the Port Village. The sister takes care of cooking and interior design, while the two brothers handle the carving. Together, they run the studio on their ancestors’ “Necklace,” operating it not only as an artsy café but also offering DIY woodcarving classes.

Unlike typical scenic restaurants, Necklace Coast not only boasts limitless sea views but also adds a distinctive indigenous style. Here, you can enjoy coffee, millet wine, indigenous cuisine, appreciate woodcarving artworks, join marine ecology tours, and even stay in camping accommodations. However, hot water requires chopping wood and making a fire, offering a chance to experience a different way of life.

All constructions and designs within the park were created by the three siblings themselves, including the seaside swing known as “Taiwan’s most beautiful swing.” Resembling both a bull horn and a crescent moon, paired with nearby carved designs, it is brimming with artistic flair. Not only is it beautiful on its own, but when set against the backdrop of the blue sea and sky, it looks like a painting. Nearly every visitor to Necklace Coast takes several photos here.
