No need to travel abroad — there’s a hidden gem in Daxi that resembles a fairy-tale forest. With its stunning lake-and-mountain scenery, netizens have dubbed it the “mini version of Yunshan Water,” making it a delightful surprise for visitors.

Taoyuan is famously known as the “Land of a Thousand Ponds.” This hidden pitian (irrigation pond) is located on the way to the Daxi Old Tea Factory, right next to Doumai Private Kitchen Restaurant, hence the name “Doumai Pitian.” Once used for fish farming, though now abandoned, its beautiful scenery continues to attract visitors.

The emerald-green water is cradled by surrounding hills, with nearby plantings of cherry blossoms, bougainvillea, and other flora.
