【Most Spectacular Flower Carriage】Japan’s “Bride”-Themed Sightseeing Train “Bride’s Curtain”

JapanRiding the JR has always been a delightful experience — spotless, comfortable, and now even more exciting with themed luxury sightseeing trains. TheTokyo-bound Hokuriku Railway connecting to the Hokuriku region launched the glamorous “Bride’s Curtain” train in October this year, running betweenKanazawaand Wakura Onsen, with the entire journey taking about 1 hour and 22 minutes.

The “bride”-themed train is painted red with floral patterns all over, radiating a festive vibe. Inside the carriages, the design draws inspiration fromKanazawa’s traditional crafts — Wajima lacquerware (which involves laying gold leaf or metal powder on lacquered surfaces) and Kaga yuzen (a dyeing technique for kimonos) — complemented by various floral and butterfly motifs to create a poetic ambiance.

Even though the journey takes 20 minutes longer than an express train, enjoying the scenery aboard such a blissful train is a lovely experience. The carriages also offer themed bento boxes and light meals, all co-created with the hotel “Kanazawa Yamato.” While private charter services aren’t available yet, imagine a newlywed couple in traditional attire riding this train on their wedding day — they’re sure to receive blessings from all the passengers!

The train’s departure station,KanazawaCity, is located in the central part ofJapan’s Hokuriku region, adjacent to theJapanSea. Historically, during the Edo period, it was the region’s largest city. Its tourist attractions mainly consist of historic architecture, such asJapan’s Three Great Gardens, including Kenroku-en, which is situated inKanazawaCity.
