National airline launches flight to Lijiang, serves local specialty "Yunnan rice noodles" on board

Following the inaugural flight from Taoyuan to Urumqi, Xinjiang, operated by the national airline yesterday (25th), China Airlines Group’s Mandarin Airlines today (26th) added a new regular Taoyuan-Lijiang route. Flights operate three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays using Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with a flight duration of 3 hours and 45 minutes. The service offers 8 business class seats and 150 economy class seats.

The inaugural Lijiang flight, AE971, departed Taoyuan at 7:10 AM on June 26. China Airlines Group also thoughtfully prepared commemorative plum blossom mugs for passengers on the inaugural Lijiang flight. To align with local customs, the group served the Yunnan specialty snack "Yunnan rice noodles" on the outbound flight to Lijiang, and "Taiwanese pineapple cakes" on the return leg. Champagne was offered throughout the flight to celebrate the occasion, allowing passengers to immediately enjoy the distinctive regional flavors and the joy of the inaugural journey.

Lijiang is located in the northwest of Yunnan, featuring diverse landscapes and abundant natural resources. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The region has a plateau monsoon climate, with no distinct four seasons but distinguishable rainy and dry periods. The beautiful rain and mist of spring and summer add a unique charm to Lijiang Ancient Town, making it a highly desirable destination. Within the ancient city area of Lijiang, there are many homestay hotels renovated from traditional Naxi-style courtyards, exuding an ancient and elegant vibe. Local eateries selling special snacks such as potato cakes, bean curd rolls, and chicken bean jelly are also well worth trying.
