Who says Taoyuan is a cultural desert? The "Zhongping Road Story House" in Zhongli reopened to the public on May 6, becoming a new photo spot for those who love historic Japanese-style houses. The structure was transformed from an 87-year-old Japanese-era former dormitory, with every brick and tile, every window and j? holding unique stories. It not only showcases the long history of the building but also provides a relaxing environment, allowing visitors to feel the rich social textures of the past.

The "Zhongping Road Story House" is a Japanese-style wooden duplex building, tucked away in the bustling Zhongping commercial district. Built in the 19th year of the Republic of China (1930), it once served as staff housing for government officials, preserving nearly six decades of life details from the Liao and Wang families. The complete layout and functions of four generations have been fully restored.

Stepping into the 30-ping story house feels like stepping onto a time machine back to the Japanese colonial era. Kitchen cabinets, cooking areas, and more are open for viewing, with displays of old photos, plates, sewing machines, and other historical artifacts. The outdoors also retains remnants such as old pigsties and wells, helping to piece together the living scenes of the time. The lush garden adds breathing space to this deeply historical building. Regular exhibitions and lectures allow the public to appreciate local stories at a leisurely pace.
