Paying to train on an ice bed — Sweden’s IceHotel reopens with no days off in 365 days!

Every winter, office workers would rather stay curled up under the covers, refusing to get up even with ten alarms blaring. Yet, inSwedensome are willing to pay to sleep on an ice bed. Located inSwedenin the village of Jukkasjärvi near the Arctic Circle, the IceHotel previously operated only during the cold winter months. But starting this year, with the new IceHotel 365 concept, guests can stay year-round, as the hotel uses solar-powered cooling technology to prevent the ice from melting, keeping it frozen throughout the seasons.

The brand-new project spans 2,200 square meters and is built from the frozen waters of the Torne River. Upon entering the hotel, you’ll see translucent ice-block furniture, making it feel like stepping into the world of "Frozen." The hotel offers 55 rooms across 4 room types, including 20 suites, along with a cocktail bar, public spaces, a restaurant, bathrooms, and even an ice chapel for couples wanting to hold a polar wedding.

Each suite not only features large ice beds, ice sofas, ice tea tables, and ice desks, but also showcases ice sculptures and ice wall art carefully crafted by artists from around the world. These pieces create a surreal, dazzling effect under the play of light.

To maintain the shape of the ice sculptures, all rooms are kept at temperatures between -4°C and -6°C. To help guests withstand the cold, the hotel specially uses reindeer fur — from Arctic animals — as insulation pads for beds and chairs.

For those who can’t sleep on the “ice bed,” the hotel also offers warmer rooms equipped with basic amenities such as hair dryers, irons, and TVs. These options are even half the price of the ice rooms!
