Orange travel alert issued for parts of India due to "anti-Maoist movement"

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today (the 2nd) that due to the ongoing drought in 13 atolls in the northern part of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the region will continue to be listed under a gray travel alert. The public is advised to avoid non-essential business or tourism travel for the time being. Additionally, parts of India have been listed under an orange travel alert due to the "anti-Maoist movement."

It is understood that the 13 atolls in the northern part of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, including Ujae, Lae, Wotho, Lib, Namu, Aur, Maloelap, Wotje, Likiep, Ailuk, Mejit, Utrik, and Enewetak, have been experiencing severe drought since May. Both humans and livestock are facing drinking water shortages, and crop growth has also been affected. Traditional local crops such as coconuts and bananas have stopped growing due to the drought, leaving the area in a state of food and water scarcity. The Marshallese government has also designated these areas as disaster zones. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Bureau of Consular Affairs stated that to ensure the safety of its citizens abroad, the region will continue to be listed under a gray travel alert, and the public is advised to avoid travel to the area. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also noted that in Chhattisgarh, India, "anti-government Maoist guerrillas" recently launched an ambush, resulting in casualties and political instability. As a result, the region has been listed under an orange travel alert. Meanwhile, in the northern Indian states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh, continuous heavy rainfall in recent days caused flooding. Although the situation has slightly improved, due to the ongoing monsoon season, travel is still not advisable in the short term.
