Get Wet or Stay Dry? Miaoli Civic Square Turns Into a "Mini Fantasy Amusement Park"

Summer is here!* The Miaoli City Government has specially opened the fountain area in “Civic Square,” which has been newly renovated to include family-friendly water dance shows, magic jumping fountains, and a “minefield” zone among other water features. Kids dart through the water jets, making the Civic Square feel like a mini fantasy amusement park. The square’s fountain area is open daily from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In previous years, Miaoli City’s Civic Square would attract many children whenever the fountain was operational. In response to the public’s enthusiasm for the fountains, the city government has added a “splash zone” featuring bronze animal-shaped water features based on the 12 zodiac signs. These not only spray water (in cycles of 2 minutes every half hour) but also offer seating and resting spots for those looking to cool off. Once you step into this zone, you’re guaranteed to get soaked.

Additionally, Miaoli Mayor Chiu Ping-kun reminds the public not to block the water jets with plastic bags or other items, and to remove shoes before entering the splash area, ensuring a clean and enjoyable space for everyone.
