Ding Dong is here！Tokyo's limited-time exhibition showcases Doraemon as seen by 30 artists

Look, Ding Dong is here！Whether you're a millennial, born in the '90s, or the '80s, you must know Ding Dong—or Doraemon！As a fan, you’d better plan a trip toTokyosoon！BecauseTokyoRoppongi Hills’ Mori Art Museum will host “THE DORAEMON EXHIBITION TOKYO 2017” from November 1 to January 8 next year. What makes this exhibition special is that it invites 30Japanesecontemporary artists to present their personal interpretations of Doraemon and other characters.

This exhibition features works by 30 artists, including Takashi Murakami, Mika Ninagawa, and Yoshitomo Nara. The theme image was created by renowned artist Takashi Murakami, who fused Doraemon with his signature “Flowers” motif to produce a massive 6m x 3m artwork.

Celebrated photographer and director Mika Ninagawa shot a series themed “If Doraemon Were My Boyfriend,” featuring Doraemon with girls at beaches, aquariums, and bowling alleys. Meanwhile, Masuda Sebastian, known for his Harajuku-style sweet and colorful aesthetic, transformed a 2.6-meter-tall Doraemon into a pink, bead-and-lace-covered figure, moving away from its traditional sky-blue look—wonder if fans can accept this new version?

There’s also a visually stunning piece in the exhibition, using large stitched cowhide inspired by ancient cave paintings to depict a mother wolf carrying a naked Shizuka, surrounded by bats, swallows, and other animals, creating a mythological vibe.

But the most talked-about piece is probably by Sakamoto Tomoyuki—a “Shizuka” artwork where she is designed with a youthful appearance, transformed into a giant twisting her wet skirt, sparking endless imagination among viewers.

Besides enjoying the exhibition pieces on-site, there are also plenty of boutique shopping options—fans are sure to shop to their heart’s content！To complement the exhibition, even the cafe nearby, The Sun, has launched a special menu, including Anywhere Door parfait and Dora Bell omelet, plus lots of photo ops for fans！
