Kaohsiung’s Lotus Pond Transforms into a “Water Skiing Paradise” – Summer Camp Participants: So Much Fun!

There's a new way to cool off and have fun in the water this summer. The Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau, German-based Melchers Group, and the Kaohsiung Sports Association Water Skiing Committee have organized an 8-session water skiing summer camp at Lotus Pond in Zuoying, featuring a water skiing cable system specially imported from Germany for enhanced safety—perfect for beginners to quickly get the hang of it. The camp kicked off on the 2nd, and for just NT$1,500, participants can enjoy three days of exciting water adventures.

The Kaohsiung Water Skiing Summer Camp started on the 2nd, turning Lotus Pond into a paradise for kids. Many participants have exclaimed, “So much fun!” Wu Ming-chang, Deputy Director of the Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau, noted that water skiing is one of the most physically demanding sports in terms of energy expenditure per unit of time, and it’s also a challenging, creative, independent, and team-oriented water sport. The summer camp has resonated well with both parents and students.

Coach Liao from the Kaohsiung Sports Association Water Skiing Committee also mentioned that the cable water skiing equipment was imported from Germany and operates using a power-driven pulley system, offering high safety for beginners. The 16 teenage participants picked up the skills quickly and had a great time.

Aside from water skiing, public bike rental stations are also available near the “i Center” tourist service center at Lotus Pond and behind the Kaohsiung Products Pavilion, allowing visitors to rent bikes and enjoy a leisurely ride around the scenic pond.

Activity Schedule and Details:
Location: Lotus Pond, Zuoying.
Participants: Junior and senior high school students from Kaohsiung City (third grade elementary and above).
Time: July 2, 2013, to August 22, 2013, with 8 sessions held over three days each.
Activities: Daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, participants will take turns based on group size. The registration fee for the experience is NT$1,500 per person, with a maximum of 30 participants per session. (Includes insurance, lunch, mineral water, equipment maintenance, coach guidance, and staff fees.) Each participant will receive a water skiing T-shirt and two complimentary water skiing vouchers provided by Liantan Leisure Co., Ltd.
