The Starry Sky Cottage was built for the 2011 film *Starry Starry Night*, where the scene of the grandfather’s wooden cabin was shot here. This movie is adapted from Jimmy Liao’s picture book of the same name, *Starry Starry Night*, and is a comprehensive film that blends science fiction, family, parent-child themes, warmth, and inspiration. From the weathered exterior to the exquisitely detailed interior, every aspect of this blue cottage is well worth a visit. When you come to Fenchihu, don’t just remember the famous Fenchihu lunchboxes and agar-agar jelly—be sure to visit this place as well.

The Starry Sky Cottage is located on the side of the Taiwan fir forest trail south of Fenchihu, a blue cottage tucked away in a secluded spot in the woods. The wooden cabin’s exterior looks slightly weathered, bearing some signs of age, though its exact construction date remains uncertain.Every corner of the cottage, even though it’s just a movie set, is meticulously arranged. Whether it’s the kitchenware on the cabinet or the handicrafts on the wooden table by the window, the setup looks as if the movie took an intermission and the actors just stepped away momentarily, still vividly awaiting the next scene.

To get to the Starry Sky Cottage, you can take the trail beside the Fenchihu Earth God Temple, go straight to the end, then turn left at a T-junction, and walk for about five to ten minutes to reach it. Along the way, you’ll pass through a lush expanse of Taiwan fir forest, so keep an eye out for the large birds’ nest ferns growing on the fir trees. The view opens up to a sky-like canopy formed by towering firs, with the ferns resembling floating clouds halfway up to the sky—an impressive sight.

Not far from exiting the Starry Sky Cottage, take a left up the slope, and you’ll see a small shop selling doughnuts called "Century Hinoki Doughnuts." Although the owner uses ordinary cast iron equipment for baking, the doughnuts give off a rich, toasty aroma.The doughnuts are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a rich, creamy scent filling each bite—one of the must-try delicacies when visiting Fenchihu.
