French bread has always been a timeless favorite in Taiwan, especially the baguette — its simple flavor is what makes it so uniquely satisfying.According to Lonely Planet, the baguette shop in Paris’s 13th arrondissement won the annual Baguette Prize and now supplies the Élysée Palace daily — a taste even the President loves.

Boulangerie Brun stood out from 200 competitors to win the Grand Prix de la Baguette as well as a €4,000 prize, and will also supply the President’s daily baguette. A baguette has fixed specifications and weight — according to the judges’ standards, it must weigh between 250–300 grams, measure 55–65 centimeters in length, and contain no more than 18 grams of salt per kilogram of flour used.

These quality requirements push bakers to continuously refine their craft — like baker Bouattour, who wakes up at 2:30 a.m. every day to prepare around 700 baguettes.
