No need to go via Kaohsiung or Taoyuan Airport anymore — Direct flights between Tainan and Hong Kong now available

Traveling from southern Taiwan to Hong Kong will soon become more convenient. A national airline today (18th) launched the Tainan–Hong Kong route, marking the first time a Taiwanese carrier has provided international scheduled flights from Tainan Airport. This

China Airlines launched its inaugural flight between Tainan and Hong Kong, operating three flights per week on Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a capacity of 158 passengers. For the maiden departure from Tainan, special in-flight meal options include “Shrimp Rolls with Tainan Guanmiao Noodles” and “Tainan Baihe Specialty Lotus Tea.” On the return flight from Hong Kong to Tainan, passengers can enjoy iconic Hong Kong desserts such as “Mango Pomelo Sago with Mango Sauce” and “Almond Jelly.” This allows both Taiwanese and Hong Kong passengers on the inaugural flights to savor famous delicacies from Tainan and Hong Kong. Additionally, every passenger on the maiden Tainan departure flight will receive a limited-edition China Airlines plum blossom mug, as well as a Wi-Fi prepaid SIM card worth NT$270 provided by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, ensuring connectivity in Hong Kong to share the joy of the new route.

The China Airlines Group currently offers round-trip flights to Hong Kong from four airports—Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung—totaling 159 weekly flights. These include 88 flights from Taoyuan, 28 from Taichung, 40 from Kaohsiung, and 3 from Tainan.

To celebrate the inaugural flight, economy class fares for Tainan–Hong Kong start from as low as TWD 7,050, with flexible routing options via various cities. China Airlines’ Boutique Travel is also offering a Tainan–Hong Kong two-day-one-night promotional package starting from TWD 6,250, with over 50 Hong Kong hotels to choose from. Opting for a family room (four people sharing) comes with additional perks, including a HK$30 voucher for Tsui Wah Restaurant, a one-way Airport Express ticket, and a limited-edition crystal fashion notebook.

The launch of China Airlines’ Tainan–Hong Kong route not only meets the travel needs of Tainan residents but also provides visitors from Hong Kong and South China traveling to Taiwan with direct access to explore or conduct business in the Chiayi–Tainan area via Tainan Airport. In collaboration with 14 three- to five-star hotels and boutique accommodations in the Tainan region, China Airlines has introduced a Tainan three-day-two-night travel package starting from HKD 1,280, which includes a launch promotion at the Tainan Grand Formosa Regent Hotel offering a “buy one night, get the second night free” deal. Through the service of this new route, the airline hopes to attract more tourists to visit Tainan.
