Traveling to Tainan with Your Pet: Admire the "Golden Rain" and European-style Museums

Taking a large dog out isn’t easy, but the desire to share the beauty of the outdoors with furry companions keeps Yoyo’s mom taking her golden retriever Yoyo and mixed-breed Mei Mei out for walks every month. This June, the family embarked on a 3-day, 2-night trip to Tainan. Aside from visiting fellow dog owners, they also went to National Cheng Kung University to see the "golden rain" of the golden shower trees, and strolled through the Metropolitan Park and Qiaotou Beach to enjoy the scenery.

The trip took place in summer, and worrying about the hot ground burning their paws, Yoyo’s family mostly stayed at their Airbnb, venturing out only in the cooler afternoons. Yoyo’s mom said that this trip was mainly to visit fellow dog owners, so the itinerary wasn’t strictly planned—they simply played as they went.For those thinking of bringing their dogs to Tainan, she highly recommends a visit to the Metropolitan Park, as it has a vast area with clean lawns, perfect for dogs to walk and run around.However, she advises avoiding the midday heat, and instead going in the early morning or evening when it’s cooler.

Traveling with pets requires careful preparation of essentials. Yoyo’s mom noted thatshe always brings fresh pet food, food and water bowls, towels, combs, poop bags, and bedding (to place on the Airbnb bed and prevent dog hair from getting on it). If they’re playing in the water, the gear list expands to include slicker brushes, pet shampoo, life vests, toys, pet-safe disinfectants, and medications—nothing can be left out.，but nothing can be left out.

Regarding pet etiquette while staying in accommodations, Yoyo’s mom also suggests not letting dogs on the bed to avoid fur-covered sheets, and not grooming them indoors. Additionally, pets should not relieve themselves or bark and bite inside rooms, in order to leave a good impression with hosts and help maintain pet-friendly spaces.
