New Experience: Try Windsurfing and Kayaking on Tainan Canal

The scenic canals of the historic city can now be enjoyed in the sunshine too. Breaking away from the stereotype that water activities are only done at sea, the Tainan City Government’s Tourism Bureau has pioneered “Water Recreation Experience Activities” in the canal, including kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and windsurfing.

The Tainan City Tourism Bureau stated that leveraging the city’s unique natural canal resources, they have promoted water recreation experience activities in the canal, combined with some of the most “trendy” water sports.These events will take place on weekends from July 20 to 28 and September 7 to 15 in the canal area of Tainan City.The public is encouraged to take part.

This time, the city government has also specially partnered with the Tainan Family Service Center to organize a charity event. Donors who contribute five receipts issued after July can enjoy a free water activity experience — “Have fun while doing good.” In recent years, the Tainan City Canal has seen outstanding renovation results, shedding its former reputation as a “stinky ditch.” Now with clear water quality, it has become a “Left Bank of Tainan” that locals take pride in.
