The Golden Diamond and Triumph Night Markets Are About to Open — Southern Kaohsiung’s Nightlife Gets Even More Vibrant

Southern Kaohsiung is about to welcome two new night market destinations. TheGolden DiamondandTriumphNight Markets are scheduled to open this Friday, the 26th, and next Monday, the 29th,. Both markets are located near the former Brave Valley site on Section 4, Triumph Road, and together feature nearly 1,000 bustling stalls — posing a strong rival to the Ruifeng Night Market in northern Kaohsiung.

According to business plans, the Golden Diamond Tourist Night Market covers an area of 7,000 ping, with over 500 operating stalls. In addition to a variety of food snacks, it also includes lifestyle goods, clothing, and artisan crafts. It claims to be Taiwan’s first legally registered and approved night market. The opening event on the 26th will feature performances by singers such as Huang Fei and Wu Shumin, and the first three days will include giveaways of 4,000 shopping vouchers worth a total of NT$200,000.

Consultants involved in planning the Golden Diamond Night Market stated that its restrooms are comparable to those of five-star hotels, featuring fountains and LED ambient lighting — features never before seen in night markets across Taiwan. The spatial layout is also quite spacious, overturning the traditional impression of night markets as crowded and messy.

The Triumph Night Market, set to open on the 29th, covers an area of 9,000 ping. Not only does it have uniquely planned stalls, but they are also organized by the names of major roads in Kaohsiung, such as Yixin to Shiquan Roads, as well as Zhongshan and Zhonghua Roads (top image, courtesy ofLiu Kaixuan's Facebook), allowing visitors to easily identify their location and making it convenient for meeting up or finding others.
