Hualien Sailing Championship Kicks Off This Week  – Hundreds of Sails Vie for Glory on the Pacific

This Friday (26th), the National Sailing Championship and the 3rd HuiLan Cup Sailing Competition, organized by the Hualien County Government, will set sail amid the Pacific breeze. The public from all over Taiwan are invited to experience the most beautiful blue vacation on the left coast of the Pacific.

Hualien County Magistrate Fu Kun-chi stated that this summer, Hualien’s 3D tourism has been fully launched. In addition to the exciting five-day HuiLan Bay Sailing Festival, there will also be a variety of rich and diverse tourism programs such as the Hualien Soaring Season, Golden Needle Flower Season, Indigenous Harvest Festival, Summer Love Carnival, and Hakka Drum King Competition, making this summer in Hualien even more colorful.

The 3rd HuiLan Cup Sailing Competition, as a major themed event, will expand its competition area this year, extending the race zone from HuiLan Bay to the open sea beyond. It will be the largest-scale water sports event ever held in Hualien. Meanwhile, the 102nd National Sailing Championship will also take place, with over a hundred magnificent sails showcasing their beauty across the vast, azure Pacific, bringing a refreshing and healthy summer vibe to Hualien Bay and boosting local tourism development.

The event will follow the five-day schedule of an international official championship, running from July 26th to July 30th, with a grand opening ceremony to be held on July 27th. The results of this competition will be recorded in the official competition records of the Republic of China Sailing Association. This has attracted numerous national sailors and sailing enthusiasts, with 180 participants making this year’s competition larger in both scale and competitor numbers than ever before.

Around the sailing event venue at Tai Kai Xin Farm, a variety of water and land activities will be arranged, including canoe performances, equestrian shows and experiences, live sketching sessions, as well as visits to the HuiLan Kiln for ceramic art and clay creation experiences. Additionally, to encourage visitor participation and boost spending, the public can enjoy free access to water facility experiences by presenting two local Hualien purchase receipts from the current month. There is also a limited-time offer where collecting three event stamps allows visitors to exchange for a free farm T-shirt—quantities are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
