A spectacular display of fireworks lights up the Taipei night sky  The Dadaocheng Music and Fireworks Festival kicks off in dazzling fashion on August 10

The annual Taipei Dadaocheng Music and Fireworks Festival is set to take place on August 10. The event will again be held at Yanping Riverside Park and around the Dadaocheng Wharf. The site will feature food stalls, cultural and creative booths, family-friendly games, as well as performances by renowned Cuban Latin and jazz bands. While waiting for the fireworks to begin, visitors can also explore the surrounding merchandise. As this year’s fireworks festival falls on the weekend just before Qixi Festival (Chinese Valentine’s Day), the Taipei City Government’s Department of Information and Tourism has specially organized the “2013 FU Datong – Love Tied by the Moon God, Dancing in the Spring Breeze” series of events, inviting people of all ages to celebrate the romantic occasion together.

Starting in the afternoon on the day of the Dadaocheng Music and Fireworks Festival, food stalls, cultural and creative booths, and family games will be set up at the No. 3 Water Gate parking lot in Dadaocheng. The No. 4 Water Gate will primarily host stage performances, including shows by Cuban Latin bands, jazz bands, and performances by the Taipei Symphony Orchestra. As for the highly anticipated fireworks display, it will take place over the river area between the 3rd and 5th Water Gates on the north side of the Zhongxiao Bridge in the Tamsui River. The fireworks will be choreographed to live music performed by the Taipei Symphony Orchestra, creating a unique and memorable atmosphere.

In addition to the fireworks festival, a variety of related activities for Qixi Festival will also be held around Dadaocheng. These include the “2013 FU Datong – Love Tied by the Moon God, Dancing in the Spring Breeze” series from August 3 to 24, featuring a moon god love dance competition, Taiwanese folk song concerts, and cultural and creative industry tours.
