Tourism Center / Comprehensive Report
The annual Taichung "Tianjin Road Clothesline Festival" kicks off on August 2 on Tianjin Road, with over 300 member stores holding clearance sales. Millions of spring/summer clothing items are slashed to 10% off, and there’s a special zone with thousands of clothing items available for a flat rate of just NT$50 each. Customers who spend NT$100 or more can also collect points to redeem food vouchers. The organizers have thoughtfully set up air-conditioned special sale areas, and on August 9 (Friday), they will even “air-drop” 1,000 shopping vouchers for clothing, allowing customers to use them directly for discounts.

The Tianjin Business District Management Committee stated that the Clothesline Festival is held every summer vacation, and due to the hot weather, this year there are specially designated air-conditioned sales venues at the intersections of Tianjin Road and Daya Road, as well as Tianjin Road and Meichuan West Road, providing shoppers with a comfortable clothing-buying environment. The aim is for everyone to shop in comfort, “after all, it’s about drying clothes, not people!” At 3 p.m. on the 9th, they will also “air-drop” a thousand NT$50 clothing vouchers that can be used directly for purchases.
This year’s Clothesline Festival runs until August 11. The organizers have also adopted a New Year goods street format, “closing the street” from August 9 to 11 and inviting hundreds of food, drink, entertainment, and activity vendors to set up booths. Among them, notable brands such as Nine Suns, O’Coffee, and Ah-Chi-Shi will be participating. In addition, the Management Committee also noted that in line with the Environmental Protection Bureau’s bring-your-own-shopping-bag policy, consumers who bring their own bags when shopping for clothes can participate in the “Eco-Appliance Lucky Draw,” with prizes including refrigerators, washing machines, and a total of 310 awards.

Tianjin Road Business District is 680 meters long and is home to about 300 shops. The Business District Management Committee holds the Clothesline Festival every year to clear out spring/summer clothing through special sales. During each festival period, store revenues typically increase by 30%. This year, the event is especially attracting customers with a “triple voucher blitz” of food coupons, clothing vouchers, and lucky draw tickets.
