According to a complaint received by Apple Daily, a passenger recently took a Cathay Pacific flight from Taipei to Hong Kong en route to Malaysia. Upon arriving in Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific informed the passenger that due to flight scheduling issues, the original flight had been canceled, forcing them to take a Vietnam Airlines flight to Vietnam before continuing on to Malaysia, which disrupted their travel plans.

On the return journey, the passenger again faced missing a connecting flight and encountered a mechanical issue with the aircraft, leading them to suspect that Cathay Pacific deliberately prevented passengers from making connections—possibly due to overbooking during the peak season, with connecting passengers bearing the brunt.

Cathay Pacific responded by stating that the outbound flight was delayed due to ground operations at Taoyuan Airport, so they arranged for passengers to board the nearest available flight to their destination according to standard procedures. On the return trip, the flight was delayed due to air traffic control at Kuala Lumpur Airport, and the originally scheduled flight was further postponed due to mechanical reasons, causing inconvenience to passengers, for which they expressed apologies.
