Pinglin Summer Afternoon Grassland Concert  Invites the Public to Enjoy Music and Beat the Heat in the Mountains

The temperature in Taipei City has soared past 36°C again! However, the average temperature in Pinglin is 5°C lower than in Taipei, making it an ideal destination for a weekend getaway to enjoy nature and escape the heat. On August 6 at 3 PM, New Taipei City will host a concert on the large grass field of Pinglin Junior High School, inviting the public to experience what feels like a summer afternoon grassland concert in southern Europe.

Lin Jieyou, Director of the New Taipei City Government Information Office, stated that Pinglin District is located within the Feitsui Reservoir water source protection area. Due to regulatory restrictions, development in Pinglin is limited, which has allowed its beautiful mountains and waters to remain in their pristine state. These development restrictions have now become a local “natural limitation,” preserving unspoiled natural beauty untouched by human interference.

With its unspoiled landscapes and richly diverse ecosystems in its wild streams and forests, Pinglin has earned the reputation of being a “nature museum.” For those who love the coolness of the mountains, there are dozens of trails to explore, such as the Jinguailiao Fish Fern Trail and the Kuolai Ancient Trail. Nature enthusiasts will be amazed by the diversity of ferns and woodlands, while those seeking to escape the heat can enjoy a comfortable coolness that is 5°C lower than the Taipei Basin.

On the day of the event, Pinglin District Chief Wang Chaoqing will prepare 1,000 locally exclusive Baozhong tea ice pops and 1,000 bottles of chilled Pinglin tea, allowing everyone to enjoy great music along with great tea. The organizers will also distribute 300 eco-friendly bamboo fans to attendees, sharing the natural coolness of an air-conditioner-free, earth-friendly experience.

To promote low-carbon carpooling, the New Taipei City Government urges the public to use public transportation to get there. Starting at 12 PM, free shuttle buses will be available at Xindian Metro Station. Alternatively, you can take Bus No. 923 or Green 12 from Xindian Metro Station to reach the venue.
