Gigi (Lin Ruchi) spent four days and three nights in Japan attending the Fuji Rock Festival. Having just returned to Taiwan on August 1, she is very familiar with the country

Having just launched the "Curated Selection of Taipei-Style Boutiques: GIGI's Shopping Special," Gigi continues to channel her adventurous spirit and embarks on another journey. As someone who plans trips every year, this time she heads toFuji Rock Festival in Japanfor a pilgrimage. She happily revealed, “The annual Fuji Rock, held in the mountains, has a utopian vibe.” To experience this musical feast firsthand, she spent three nights and four days in the mountains.

Gigi laughed as she said that although she knew there was a 51% chance of heavy thunderstorms, she was so overwhelmed with excitement that she completely forgot to prepare rain boots. “I wore shoes suitable for walking in the rain, but the open-toe design meant my feet were covered in mud as soon as I arrived, so I had to buy rain boots and a red cape on-site.” She ended up looking like a little red riding hood out exploring, her appearance both playful and adorable.

Gigi and her friends headed straight to Fuji Rock Festival as soon as they landed, partying until 5 a.m. the next day before returning to their accommodation. Interestingly, she traveled with friends on a group tour and ended up sharing a room with five other people. She laughed, “We didn’t have to follow the group’s itinerary, but the sleeping area was really tiny—smaller than the bedroom in my own home.” As for whether her roommates recognized her? She said, “People into rock music are all pretty cool, so no one brought it up.”

On the first day, she watched Nine Inch Nails perform, and Gigi excitedly said, “Their stage was black and white with lightning designs, which matched the heavy thunderstorm perfectly!” In the following days, she saw performances by Björk and The Cure. The weather still hadn’t improved, but some stages were indoors, saving her from staying covered in mud. She also kindly reminded future festival-goers that besides rain gear, a folding stool is essential. She explained, “Although the event has an app to check performance schedules, there are inevitably downtime periods. The stool isn’t just for resting—it’s also handy for placing your bag while watching the show.”

Additionally, in addition to multiple performance stages, there were also geisha performances at the exit. She described the performers as appearing topless, with tassels hanging from their chests, creating quite a visual impact. There was also a children’s play area, making it a perfect destination for family trips. Visitors could even wade in the mountain streams. Most thoughtfully, there were various international cuisines for sale, including Vietnamese and Spanish dishes. Further into the mountains, you could even try cucumbers dipped in miso and tomatoes, which helped cut through the heaviness of eating too much meat.
