Located in Beitou District, Taipei,
“Zhang Wu Ji Mixed Noodles”
may be tucked away in a quiet alley,
but it’s always bustling during meal times.
The shop offers many unique, old-school stir-fried dishes,

but its most famous offering is the “Mega Mixed Noodle Bowl”
as big as a basin—reportedly enough to feed ten people. Gather your crew and take on the challenge!

Although it’s located in a Beitou alleyway, for those using public transport,
it’s more convenient to take the MRT to “Qiyian Station” and walk from there.

The shop’s decor follows a simple, old-school style,
and many veteran celebrities have dined here.
Three sizes of bowls—this comparison shows the difference, right?

The top one is the regular mixed noodle soup, priced at NT$100.
Next is the Family Set size, NT$448, and finally the Big Bowl size, NT$599.
Although the space isn’t large, most tables are big ones,
usually for group meals. Walk-ins may need to share a table.

Vintage furniture and decorations, along with Hakka floral fabric,
create a traditional and welcoming vibe.
Check out the menu here.
If you’re visiting for the first time and not sure what to order,
just go for their popular marked items—they’re pretty solid choices.
This time I didn’t get the Scallion Boneless Chicken Leg, which is highly recommended by netizens.
Also, the Kung Pao Pig Liver—apparently the Kung Pao seasoning helps mask the liver’s gamey taste. Highly recommended.
A steaming hot, giant bowl—our server was really going for it,

kids, don’t try this at home, this uncle’s got skills, okay?
They even had to clear the aisle before serving—it was that risky.
As soon as the food was served, the whole table got super hyped up!

They were not only very welcoming about us taking photos but also took the initiative to get out their iPhones for comparison!!
They were originally quite confident and even ordered some side dishes,
but after seeing this bowl, some of them were already stunned.
Halfway through eating, they started rolling up their shirt sleeves and sweating on their foreheads,
and even went to peek at the neighboring private room to observe the “battlefield” and cheer each other on.

The private room across had ordered the big bowl for 599 NT dollars,
Although there were more people, they were all girls and kids,
so taking on this bowl was probably more of a wishful glance than an actual challenge.
Some might wonder if this big bowl is just a gimmick,
or if it’s really “big in volume but lacking in quality.”

This mixed soup noodle bowl uses solid ingredients,
and you can just see with the naked eye the rich ingredients like shrimp, greens, squid, pork liver, clams, and more,
and the cooking method isn’t just dumping everything into one big pot!
Cooking this bowl requires three pots,
one for the ingredients, and two for the noodles, ensuring that the large bowl tastes just as good as the smaller ones.
Especially the broth – amazing!

On hot days or when there aren’t many people and you don’t feel like having mixed soup noodles, you can also order other dishes from them,

Although the prices are low, it’s recommended not to order too much for your main dishes,
just have one noodle dish and one rice dish to share — or go for the traditional pork lard stir-fried rice.
When ordering, you can refer to the popularity indicators on the menu,
because I think their classic stir-fried dishes
are actually more worth recommending than their noodles!
For the big pot mixed noodle dish, you really need a few more people to “work” on it,
or just order one to surprise your friends when entertaining them. UpXD.
