The Hualien County Government’s Department of Agriculture has announced that the golden needle flower seasons at Liushishi Mountain and Chike Mountain will run from August 1 to September 25. The blooms are gradually reaching their peak, and full bloom is expected after mid-August. Recently, the number of visitors traveling up the mountains to view the flowers has surged dramatically. Coupled with the narrow mountain roads, head-on encounters have become dangerous, and traffic congestion has become severe. Currently, one-way traffic control measures are in place: vehicles may ascend via Zhutian and descend via Dongli.

During the flower season, road controls on Liushishi Mountain will be in effect daily from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with Class A and B large buses prohibited from entering. However, passenger cars with fewer than 9 seats and motorcycles may still access the mountain as usual. On Chike Mountain, Class A and B large buses are also banned, but there are no restrictions on the timing of ascents, allowing visitors to plan their flower-viewing times accordingly.

To accommodate tour groups and visitors without private transportation, the county government has specially launched a shuttle fleet of 9-seater commercial passenger vehicles during the flower season. The public is encouraged to take advantage of this service to reduce the number of vehicles ascending the mountain and to enjoy more time admiring the golden needle flowers.
