A coffee shop with no repeated chairs — Little Apartment hopes guests will find their most comfortable seat

Stepping into “Little Apartment,” a coffee shop tucked away on the second floor, you’re shielded from the hustle and bustle of the street. The owner, Xiao Guo, has a special fondness for “chairs” and takes pleasure in collecting all kinds of them. Almost every chair in the shop is unique, with many sourced from old markets abroad. Xiao Guo says she hopes every guest who comes here can find a chair they find comfortable, feeling at ease and relaxed.

Xiao Guo, the owner, doesn’t come from a food and beverage background but has a strong interest in cooking and baking. Having lived near National Chengchi University for over a decade, she could never find a coffee shop with character — which sparked her idea to open one. She named it “Little Apartment” to give customers walking in a sense of security, like coming home. From the overall interior decor to the development of each dish, everything is personally managed by the owner.

Originally, “Little Apartment” focused on light afternoon tea-style snacks. At the end of last year, the new menu added various types of pancakes and mashed potato dishes that are 100% more filling, with portions much larger than the previous light meals. Among them,the most popular is the New Delhi Chicken Pancake, which features a Mexican tortilla filled with smoked chicken cubes, crisp vegetables, tomatoes, and onions. The crunchy texture paired with a generous filling completely satisfies picky taste buds.

The most distinctive dessert is the pancake. Xiao Guo emphasizes that, unlike the cake-like, soft texture of pancakes at typical chain cafes,the pancakes here have a crispy, crunchy texture. The secret lies in the one-of-a-kind pancake batter at “Little Apartment.” The bestseller is the Strawberry Ice Cream Pancake, which features half a plate of fresh strawberries, Meiji ice cream, and specially made custard sauce — refreshing and not overly sweet, leaving a lasting impression.Another signature dish is the Smoked Ham and Cheese Sandwich: toasted bread filled with cheese and ham that oozes rich cheese flavor with every bite, making it irresistible. Even celebrity Tao Jingying has ordered and loved it.

The drinks at “Little Apartment” mainly feature fruit-based beverages. The owner insists on using fresh fruit to create the authentic flavors of smoothies and juices. Among them, the Hawaiian Fruit Smoothie, with its sweet and tangy taste, adds a refreshing twist, making it perfect for a hot summer day.

Xiao Guo mentioned that many of “Little Apartment’s” customers are loyal regulars. In the year since opening, the biggest reward for her has been seeing familiar faces keep coming back. “Little Apartment” offers a comfortable space for every guest, along with the reassuring feeling of being at home.
