Qixi Festival: Nantou’s Sky Bridge Transforms into a Magpie Bridge

August 13 is Qixi Festival, and Nantou County Government will hold an event called “Romantic Memories 2013 – Love You for a Lifetime.” The Sky Bridge will open to the public at night for the first time, and solar-powered LED lights will transform the bridge into a magpie bridge to create a romantic atmosphere. The Nantou County Tourism Bureau stated that they will gather 77 couples to kiss and hug together on the Sky Bridge at 7:07 p.m. that evening, showcasing a unique Qixi experience.

The Nantou Tourism Bureau said that admission tickets for the event cost NT$100 per person, and participants will receive a souvenir gift after the event. Individuals who haven’t registered in advance or arrive later can still enter the park for NT$100 per person after 7:30 p.m. To create ticket stubs with romantic memorabilia value, the bureau specially arranged for a photographer to capture the Sky Bridge during dusk yesterday, giving the day's tickets a fresh and collectible look.

Many visitors to the Sky Bridge have expressed hope for nighttime openings. The tourism bureau is currently working on related plans for night access. Holding this event at the Sky Bridge is also a warm-up for future nighttime openings.

Activities on Qixi Festival include special industry exhibitions, the lighting ceremony of the magpie bridge, and a Valentine’s evening party. In addition to enjoying the LED light show on the Sky Bridge at night, visitors can also take in the beautiful nighttime views of the Changhua Plain, spending a romantic Valentine’s night.
