Er Yu Shop

Transformed from the 70-year-old Jinshan Grand Hotel, Er Yu Shop has the unique “unrestrained” style of a youth hostel, offering no special services. All rooms are gender-separated, featuring simple bunk beds. Each guest gets a steel cup, steel basin, and a blue-and-white washbasin—offering such minimal items that it feels almost like military life. There’s a power socket by the bed and a locker with a lock. Small but well-equipped.

At Er Yu, the rooms really are just for sleeping—one bed per person for 500 NT$. The common areas at Er Yu are well planned, where travelers can chat, watch TV together, play pool, or even barbecue outdoors.

Taitung San Yuan Se Youth Hostel

Located about 2.4 km from downtown Taitung, San Yuan Se Youth Hostel has an overall industrial style and even a cute store dog named Suli. In addition to backpacker dorms, there are also suites. San Yuan Se offers 4 room types in total: dormitory beds, capsule private rooms, standard suites, and economy suites. The cheapest option is the wooden dormitory beds, available in female-only and mixed dormitories, at 380 NT$ per person on weekdays and 480 NT$ per person on holidays, with a dedicated power socket by the bed. Free indoor slippers, shower gel, shampoo, and hairdryer are also provided.

It’s only a 6-minute walk to Taitung Railway Station. Room prices range from NT$499 to NT$839, with the cheapest being the mixed-gender dormitory at NT$499 on weekdays. All rooms at On My Way feature bunk beds, and free breakfast is provided—toast with a variety of jams, black tea, and coffee. The rooms have light-colored wooden bunk beds, equipped with standard bedside lamps, power outlets, and storage lockers, creating a simple and homely atmosphere. Additionally, On My Way has a backpacker hostel called "Backpack Jail" in Dulan, where guests with a YA International Youth Hostel card can enjoy a discounted price of NT$500.

The Homeless Commune

The predecessor of The Homeless Commune is the somewhat well-known online spot "Hunong." The bathroom facilities feature plenty of wooden elements, giving off a vacation vibe. The nightly rate is NT$500 per person, and the rooms are simple bunk beds that are clean and comfortable, located less than a 10-minute walk from Wulou.
