The Tainan Madou pomelo festival kicks off on the 24th – enjoy fruit-filled fun in Pomelo City this weekend

This year, Tainan has integrated three districts—Madou, Xiaying, and Daliao—to host the Madou Pomelo Festival Industrial and Cultural Activity Season, set to kick off vibrantly on the 24th. On the 23rd, Tainan Mayor Lai Ching-te led city councilors and district chiefs in a special prayer event in Madou District’s X... (location name garbled), giving thanks for the abundant harvest, excellent sales, and strong consumer interest.

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, mooncakes and pomelos are being vigorously marketed. Mayor Lai noted that the Mid-Autumn Festival symbolizes reunion, while pomelos carry connotations of blessings. He hopes everyone will enjoy them during the holidays for peace and togetherness. This year’s pomelo harvest is abundant, with Madou alone producing nearly 10,000 tons. Not only are the fruits of high quality and attractive appearance, but their prices have also risen. The blessing ceremony was also a way to thank the deities.

Afterwards, Mayor Lai and the councilors wrote wishes on their blessing cards. The mayor wrote, “Pomelos are bountiful, farmers’ incomes rise, and life improves,” and together they hung the cards as blessings, also hoping for the successful completion of the Madou Pomelo Festival Industrial and Cultural Activity Season.
 

The Madou Pomelo Industry and Culture Activity Season runs from August 24 to September 14. Highlights include “Fruit-filled Fun in Pomelo City” on August 24 and 25; a carnival on August 31; the performance “Can Three People Really Not?” by Screen Performing Arts on September 14; and agricultural sales activities organized by the farmers' association from August 16 to September 14. The public is warmly invited to participate.
