Is it a cake, a birdcage, or a girl’s dress? This year, Mandarin Oriental Taipei doesn’t focus on a Christmas tree but instead places an art installation above the square’s fountain. Countless golden fairy lights are densely strung together and adorned with blue snowflake lights that twinkle in the dark, attracting many visitors to stop and take photos.

Every year, Mandarin Oriental Hotel meticulously designs its Christmas tree. Last year, it unveiled a 20-meter-tall giant Christmas tree. This year, it breaks the mold with a design concept inspired by a cake, a birdcage, or a dress, enveloping the entire fountain within it. The exterior is accentuated with golden LED lights, and set against the backdrop of the European-style building behind, it creates an even more atmospheric scene. Its one-of-a-kind design has made it one of the popular Christmas photo spots.

In addition to the giant Christmas cake in the square, two Christmas trees also stand in the atrium. With a silver-and-white Christmas theme as the main axis, stepping into the hotel lobby reveals a white Christmas tree surrounded by dreamy lighting. Hidden beneath the tree are adorable little rabbits, foxes, and owls, creating a snow-covered scene that makes you feel as if you’ve been instantly transported to a Nordic Christmas, infusing the cold winter day with a warm and cozy vibe.
