A great pet-friendly spot to clear your camera memory—Yunshan Water in Hualien is like a fairyland.

“Is this really Taiwan?” Most first-time visitors to Yunshan Water in Hualien can’t help but exclaim in amazement. Describing it as a “heaven on earth” or a “utopia” is no exaggeration—the vast stretches of lush woods and grasslands, along with a mirror-like lake reflecting the blue sky and white clouds, create such a beautiful and pristine haven. The best part? It’s “free to visit,” and pets are welcome too, so you can all relax together and take tons of photos to fill up your camera memory.

The “Yunshan Water Natural Ecological Farm” is located in Shoufeng Township, Hualien, covering an area of 24 hectares, including a 4-hectare “Dream Lake.” This entire natural ecological park is owned by a landscaping company, yet it’s open to visitors for “free admission” and does not restrict pet entry.

Although Yunshan Water is man-made, it’s full of life. The deep green tree shadows reflect on the mirror-like lake surface, while swans glide gracefully, dragonflies hover above this pristine land, dotting the green water. And the changing “tall deciduous trees” throughout the seasons offer different views of Yunshan Water in every season.

Currently, “Yunshan Water” is open to all visitors for strolling and sightseeing—bringing your beloved dog is allowed too—but camping, barbecuing, and water play... or any activities that could damage the farm’s lawns and ecology are strictly prohibited. There are some villas around the lake, which are private areas and not open for visiting.

Anyway, Yunshan Water is definitely a “fairyland” worth visiting and taking tons of photos. But we remind pet owners to clean up after your pets and be careful not to let dogs run into the lake. Besides avoiding danger, it’s also about protecting this rare “utopia.”
