Yellow Rubber Duck Arrives in Port – Kaohsiung Cruises Offer Extended, Up-Close Viewing

The highly anticipated Yellow Rubber Duck will make its way into Kaohsiung on September 19, expected to attract over 3 million visitors. “Boat cruises to see the duck” are bound to be in high demand. Both public and private cruise operators in Kaohsiung have added more sailings and launched special viewing packages. The duck-viewing boats will get especially close to the giant duck, with extended stoppage times to allow visitors prolonged, up-close enjoyment. Passengers will also receive an LED-light Yellow Rubber Duck souvenir.

Kaohsiung Harbor Shipping Company has launched the “Little Duck Harbor Tour Package.” Starting September 19 for four consecutive days, including the Love Boat, Harbor Cruise, Seafood Dining Cruise, and ferry services between Qijin Ferry Terminal and True Love Pier, four additional sailings will be added daily. Passengers will also receive an LED Yellow Rubber Duck, though the original NT$100 discount fare has been canceled and adjusted to NT$150.

The bus department’s duck boat offers a Love River route, where the vessel sails close enough to the Yellow Rubber Duck for great photo ops during the extended stoppage time. The Redhead Port Cultural Area sightseeing vessels Wujin, Baobi, and Haishan run between Pier-2 Art Zone and the Cultural Area, offering views of the duck along the way. Each boat accommodates 74 passengers, allowing tourists to enjoy both the art district and the giant duck.

Private operator Zhan’an Shipping Company has also launched a Yellow Rubber Duck special package. The 70-minute cruise includes guided commentary, showcasing the surroundings of Kaohsiung Harbor. During the duck exhibition period, the boat will sail near the installation, with newly added departures at 2:40 PM and 4:00 PM, in addition to the existing 10:00 AM sailing, giving the public more chances to get up close with the duck.
