The most beautiful sunset in the world is right here in Oia！ And I actually got to witness it with my own eyes！！

The popular attractions on Santorini Island are Fira and Oia，
Fira is the capital of Santorini Island，
Oia, located at the northern end, is most famous for its sunset seascape，
It’s claimed to have the most beautiful sunset in the world, and it really is unbelievably stunning！

If you come to Santorini, Greece, it’s highly recommended to stay in both cities，
Fira and Oia have very different vibes，
If you’re traveling in a group, you’ll likely stay in Fira，
and then your guide will take you to Oia to watch the sunset，
If you’re coming on your own, you can take the local bus，
The local bus fare is 1.6 euros per person，
Take it to the terminal and head toward the direction of the volcano，
Keep heading north and you’ll reach the best sunset viewpoint！

Today, let me share with you my Aegean sunset experience in Oia^_^

It was still a bit early，
but people were already staking out spots at the sunset-viewing fortress to catch a glimpse of the Aegean Sea，
In Greece, the sunset is around 8–9 PM，
and waiting for the sun to go down is always such a long wait~"~

Looking down, there’s a donkey path，
Walking along the donkey path, you often brush past donkeys，
and ahead lies the Aegean Sea，
along with white houses perched on the cliffs，
This scene is so beautiful it feels unreal！

Standing on the fortress, you can take in the whole of Santorini Island，
The cliffside scenery is truly breathtaking in person，
The wonders crafted by nature are just amazing！

It’s the kind of view that could easily be a postcard scene！
Because of the volcanic crater terrain here,
each house is built against the mountainside,
and as you walk along these white steps,
there might be someone’s home just beneath your feet.
So… we basically hiked up the mountain walking on people’s rooftops (lol)

The Aegean sunset, the Greek flag, and the domed church—
these scenes straight out of a travel poster,
are now right in front of me.

Since it was still a bit early,
we headed back to the hotel for some sunbathing,
and waited until after 7 pm
before setting off again to the fortress to watch the sunset.

Once dusk hit, the color of the Aegean Sea became absolutely mesmerizing.
The grayish-blue sea level
kept shimmering with orange-yellow hues,
I absolutely love the Aegean Sea at this time 'd'd'd

As soon as we stepped onto the street, we found it completely deserted.
Did everyone else head to the fortress to watch the sunset?

This is the Eastern Orthodox Church in Ia’s central square,
and the sky has shifted from the blue of daytime to a golden-yellow hue.

We walked along the coastline,
often finding ourselves lingering because of the sea right beside us,
pausing every so often just to admire it.
Santorini at dusk is truly no less stunning.

Then when we finally got to the fortress, we realized there was no space left at all—it was packed.
The fortress was already crowded with tourists enjoying the sunset,
and if you look at the top left of the photo above,
the whole fortress was completely taken over.
No wonder I’ve always heard that to catch the sunset, you should stake out your spot three hours early.

But no worries—we made our way along the cliff edge to the top of Donkey Path.
At this point, the sun had already settled above the horizon.

Here there is a restaurant,
that gets fully booked by reservation by 6 PM every day!
I was actually hoping to enjoy dinner while watching the sunset.

The Donkey Street is packed with tourists too!

Some people even climb up to the church above the restaurant,
just to catch the most beautiful sunset in Oia!

The white cave houses of Santorini
have already turned a glowing red from the setting sun!

We managed to snag a spot with great effort,
and everyone stared intently at that red egg on the horizon.

The most stunning sunset in Oia usually happens between July and August,
because the sky is completely cloudless,
but I think visiting in May or June
is better because the clouds in the sky
make the sunset display a rich variety of colors.

The entire island is bathed in warm hues.

The moment the sun dips below the horizon, the crowd erupts in cheers and applause—
what a moving moment that is!
Everyone is swept up in the joyful atmosphere,
and even as the sky gradually darkens,
they remain immersed in it, reluctant to leave~

I love both the blue-and-white Santorini and the golden-hued Santorini!
When you come here, be sure to stay a whole day
to fully soak in the unique charm of Oia town.

There are souvenir shops all over the island,
but the prices vary greatly.
I’ve seen the same little magnets with price differences of over 3 euros,
and after comparing, I found the souvenir shops near the fortress to be the cheapest.
So if you’re here to watch the sunset, might as well do your shopping here too~

After watching the sunset, we planned to find a restaurant for a romantic candlelit dinner,

passing by the Blue Dome Church,
The Aegean Sea at dusk was still breathtakingly beautiful.

The white alleys lit up with lamps were filled with joy everywhere!
Since everyone headed to restaurants or bars for a meal or a drink right after the sunset, the atmosphere was simply delightful!
Isn’t life meant to be just like this!

Look up — the night sky is still so blue.

The cave houses around the volcanic crater were all lit up,
It got really cold as soon as the sun went down~
If you’re coming to watch the sunset, make sure to bring a jacket!

Once night fell, tourists gathered in the streets,
And during this time, the white alleys were full of laughter.

You’ve got to take an evening stroll down the street,
To feel the vibe of the Aegean night.

So on our way back to the hotel, we dined at a charming Mediterranean restaurant called “Floga.”

Here’s what it looks like during the day,
It’s located just left of the road leading to the Orthodox Cathedral in the central square,
and it’s also on the way to %?antorini Oia Caldera Villas%? (Mouzitsan). Besides dinner, Floga also serves brunch and lunch, and doubles as a bar in the evening.

So many couples were enjoying their romantic candlelit dinners here,
Even long-time spouses cherish their alone time together,
How long has it been since you spent some quality time alone with your partner?
I truly believe you should set aside more time for your significant other,
Even if it’s just sharing a meal or having a cup of coffee,
Just the two of you, undisturbed by kids or anyone else,
Marriage is more than just a piece of paper — after all, this is the person who will walk through life with you!

We ordered one appetizer and one main dish each,
The appetizer was octopus salad — absolutely delicious!
I can’t even describe the sauce in words,
The octopus was incredibly tender,
And with just a bit of vinaigrette, it was delicious~

Main courses are served!

I ordered a fish fillet with creamed potatoes + plum vinegar beetroot — super delicious!!

Another main dish was braised lamb shank in red wine with creamy risotto,
The lamb was cooked so tender and there was absolutely no muttony smell at all!! (thumbs up)

Because the restaurant was very dark, my handheld camera couldn't take clear pictures,
I highly recommend this restaurant — great food and atmosphere~

Finishing the meal with a glass of the restaurant’s homemade wine made for a truly wonderful evening!
We spent a total of three hours on this dinner,
and didn’t finish eating until almost midnight!
After returning to the hotel, we went for a swim in the pool or soaked in the bath,
What a relaxing day!! (humming a tune)

The restaurant is located above our hotel,
so we could just walk downstairs to get back — so convenient!

In summary: If you’ve been to Oia without seeing the sunset, don’t tell me you’ve been to Santorini!!
