No running this time—Taichung rolls out "The Color Walk"

Color powder events are all the rage right now. A Taichung cultural and creative group is calling on ten thousand people to hit the streets on 9/21 to join The Color Walk, a colorful walking event. Unlike the recently concluded color run, this one swaps running for walking. Organizers explain that runners usually scatter immediately after a race, so they’ve chosen walking instead. On the day, there will be performances by international bands and food stalls offering global cuisines. Participants who upload their photos to Facebook can even win a cash prize of NT$100,000.

Organizers say the event will kick off at Taichung Park on 9/21, covering a 2.1-kilometer route. All participants can take photos with the large activity billboard at the photo zone and upload them to the event’s Facebook page. Those who receive the most likes and shares will each win a cash prize of NT$100,000. This colorful walk has just three rules: start at the starting line wearing all white, finish the walk with your body covered in color, and freely capture and share the colors and joy around you.

Recently, a wave of “The Color Run” fever has swept across the globe. This activity actually originated in Utah, USA. After hundreds of runs worldwide, this “color craze” has made its way to Taiwan. The first-ever color run held in Taiwan recently attracted over ten thousand registrations.
