The Backyard Garden of Greater Taipei – Explore the Hidden Gems of Wulai by Bike

Wulai boasts picturesque scenery and has long been hailed as the backyard garden of Greater Taipei. The New Taipei City Government has launched a greenway cycling path from "Wulai to Fushan," where visitors can admire Taiwan’s highest waterfall drop at Wulai Waterfall, the No. 1 ranked Neidong Three-Tiered Waterfall selected by the Forestry Bureau, and the viral Wuchengxi Waterfall on social media. The Wulai Waterfall Visitor Center has also reopened, now offering bike inflation and repair services, as well as creative cuisine to attract more visitors.

The 19-kilometer cycling greenway passes through Xinxian Black Bridge, Neidong Forest Recreation Area, Wuchengxi Waterfall, the Green Tunnel, and Daluolan River, finally reaching the Fushan Tribe. The city's Tourism Bureau states that this green cycling path winds through waterfalls, streams, and fountains, making it one of the most phytoncide- and negative-ion-rich areas in Wulai. Visitors can cycle along the path while soaking in the natural phytoncides emitted by the surroundings.

The renovated Wulai Waterfall Visitor Center not only provides travel information but also introduces creative dishes to delight visitors’ palates. Dishes such as pine-infused bamboo tube rice, wild pepper-infused German-style pork knuckle, and wild pepper iced tea combine Western elements with local tribal flavors. Visitors can also DIY their own Atayal-style wooden knives or boar tusk keychains here, and enjoy the artworks on display in the center, adding an artistic touch to their Wulai trip.

The Tourism Bureau noted that even if visitors don’t have their own bikes, the visitor center offers bike rentals for just NT$250 per day.
