Yellow Rubber Duck Cookies and Desserts Take Over Kaohsiung

The Yellow Rubber Duck will make its first stop in September at Kaohsiung Harbor, where it will be on display from September 19 to October 20 for nearly a month. Known for its healing effects, the 18-meter-tall Yellow Rubber Duck making its Kaohsiung debut will be the largest in Asia and the second largest in the world, as well as Taiwan’s biggest water-based public art installation. In tune with the event, hotels across Kaohsiung have launched “Yellow Rubber Duck” packages, with booking rates for September already reaching 90%.

Chen Yihua, marketing and planning manager of Grand Hi Lai Hotel, said that with the Yellow Rubber Duck making its first appearance in Kaohsiung, they have received many inquiries from consumers even from other cities and overseas. Hotel occupancy rates are expected to increase by more than 30% compared to previous years. The occupancy rate at Ambassador Hotel Kaohsiung has also surpassed 90%. This “Rubber Duck craze” is anticipated to bring huge business opportunities for Kaohsiung’s accommodation providers.

Riding the wave of the yellow trend isn’t limited to tourism and lodging—Rubber Duck merchandise has become a big hit with consumers. Grand Hi Lai Hotel offers a Yellow Rubber Duck meal set, which also includes a ticket to the 74F observation deck. The set comes with either the Yellow Rubber Duck cocktail “Hello Rubber” or “E-Be Duck,” as well as a “Yellow Rubber Duck Mousse Cake.” To welcome the yellow guest, Ambassador Hotel Kaohsiung has launched the “Love River Duck Blizzard” promotion—those who show a photo with the Duck or are dressed in yellow can receive a complimentary cute little duck dessert.
