These include soaking in hot springs and viewing waterfalls in Wulai, exploring the renowned “Shuǐ Jīn Jiǔ” attractions in Ruifang, enjoying forested hikes across different districts, and going on a sweet potato tour in Jinshan. The website not only provides suggested itineraries but also thoughtfully lists accommodation options, dining choices, and picturesque destinations.

The tourism bureau’s recommended autumn routes blend culture, ecology, hiking, and local specialties. They include four main themes: “Ruifang Golden Miscanthus,” “Wulai Indigenous Villages,” “Shaded Forest Walks,” and “Jinshan Treasure Hunt.” Upon entering the New Taipei tourism website, visitors can immediately view these four themed travel routes. Clicking into each offers detailed information, along with a full gallery of scenic photos.

Among the four routes, the Wulai Indigenous Villages route not only features the famous hot spring baths but also takes advantage of the newly completed green bike path from Wulai to Fushan Village. Along the way, travelers can admire attractions such as Neidong Waterfall, Wuchongxi Waterfall, and the Green Tunnel. With the reopening of the Waterfall Visitor Center, creative gourmet dishes are now available, allowing visitors to enjoy both stunning scenery and delicious food.

The “Ruifang Golden Miscanthus” route highlights the “Shuǐ Jīn Jiǔ” destinations — Shuǐnándòng, Jinguashi, and Jiufen. Especially in autumn, the valleys around the nearby Keelung Mountain are blanketed with golden fields of miscanthus, creating breathtaking views. From August to November, the sweet potato harvest peaks in Jinshan, Wanli, and Shipi, where local restaurants offer special sweet potato dishes, inviting everyone to go on a “Jinshan Treasure Hunt.”

The “Shaded Forest Walks” route takes in the misty mountain views of Jiufen.Photo / Li Lin / Oriental IC It offers autumn hiking options for trekkers, including the Pingxi Wufenshan Trail, Ruifang Xiaocukeng Trail, and Xindian Shitoushan Trail. These trails are categorized into family-friendly, adventurous, and challenging levels, allowing visitors to choose based on their hiking ability.
