Overturn your imagination of pomelos—“heart-shaped pomelos” full of love!

Just a few days away from the Mid-Autumn Festival, eating pomelos, besides barbecuing, has become a national pastime. This year, the New Taipei City Agriculture Bureau has come up with a creative idea and launched “heart-shaped Wen Dan pomelos,” overturning the public’s perception of pomelos. Not only are they shaped like hearts, but both sides also feature laser-engraved V-shaped and LOVE designs. The heart-shaped pomelos will hit the market on September 9th and will be available in limited quantities.

Jointly mentored by the New Taipei City Agriculture Bureau and the Bali District Farmers' Association, farmers have successfully cultivated the innovative heart-shaped Wen Dan pomelos. Liao Rongqing, Director of the New Taipei City Government Agriculture Bureau, said: “This year’s heart-shaped Wen Dan pomelos aim to enhance their utilization and added value through new product development. Beyond being a traditional fruit for the Mid-Autumn Festival, they can inspire more peripheral products. Coupled with well-planned marketing activities, this initiative also helps increase farmers’ income.”

Additionally, the Agriculture Bureau has planned a “Fruit Picking Day Tour” in line with the pomelo season, allowing visitors to experience harvesting Wen Dan pomelos, DIY bath bomb making, tasting pomelo-flavored meals, as well as visiting the Sanxia Street Cultural and Creative Park and the Left Bank Old Street.

On September 14th and 15th, a Wen Dan pomelo and agricultural specialty product fair will be held in front of the Bali Left Bank Environmental Sustainability Development Center. The event will feature promotional sales of high-quality pomelos from New Taipei City, along with fun activities such as parent-child sand painting DIY, pomelo fishing, and a prize quiz. There will also be live performances by artists such as Li Huiqi, Wu Wenfang, and Taipei Percussion.
