Hong Kong budget airline enters Taichung market: Taichung to Hong Kong flights from NT$1,200

Hong Kong budget airline HK Express has set up at Chingchuankang Airport (Taichung)! Daily flights between Taichung and Hong Kong will operate twice daily in the afternoon and evening. The one-way untaxed fare starts from HK$318, approximately NT$1,200. However, low-cost carriers do not provide complimentary meals on board, and checked baggage requires an additional fee. This time, HK Express is launching seven destinations departing from Hong Kong. The official maiden flight is scheduled for October 27, and tickets from October 27 to March 29 of next year are already on sale on theofficial website.

The seven destinations from Hong Kong include Chiang Mai, Taichung, Tokyo, Osaka, Kunming, Phuket (Phuket Island), and Sabah. Prices range between HK$228 and HK$758. HK Express stated that the A320 aircraft used for the round-trip flights between Taichung and Hong Kong has about 174 seats, with two daily departures from both Hong Kong and Taichung in the afternoon and evening. The untaxed ticket price is around NT$1,200, making it highly suitable for independent travelers and backpackers.

HK Express, whose full name is Hong Kong Express, is a local Hong Kong airline transformed from Hong Kong Express Airways. It is Hong Kong’s first low-cost carrier. Currently, it operates five aircraft and plans to increase that number to 11 next year, and to 30 by 2018. In the coming year, it aims to serve at least 1.5 million passengers.
