Enjoy cycling under blue skies and seas: Guam’s Iron Horse Tour kicks off on November 20

Have you ever experienced the thrill of cycling under blue skies and seas? The “Ride Through Guam: Iron Horse Journey,” to be held in Guam on November 20, invites Taiwanese cycling enthusiasts to join in the fun, enjoying a bike trip that combines cycling with in-depth travel and features blue seas and skies, traditional culture, and historic routes.

“Guam is a highly suitable destination for cycling, with straightforward routes. Some areas offer pleasant scenery where cyclists can breathe fresh air and enjoy comfortable sea breezes while experiencing the thrill of speed, while others feature undulating terrains that challenge one’s limits,” said Yen Te-fen, representative of the Guam Visitors Bureau Taiwan Office. “Compared to typical sightseeing methods that rely mostly on vehicles, cycling allows for a deeper appreciation of the local landscape, seascapes, and Chamorro culture.”

The “Ride Through Guam: Iron Horse Journey” event will depart from Taiwan on November 20 via China Airlines and return on November 24. The highlight of the trip is a 40-kilometer cycling route that starts at the Guam Visitors Bureau, heads north along the highway to tackle hilly terrain, and reaches Lover’s Cliff — a famous scenic spot offering panoramic views of Tumon Bay and embracing the vast Philippine Sea. Then, the journey continues southward to the Pacific War Memorial Park, where participants can admire sea and sky views and take photos before resuming the trip. Back at the hotel, guests can relax in the outdoor hot tub at the Pacific Resort or enjoy snorkeling in the private beach.

Registration for the “Ride Through Guam: Iron Horse Journey” is now open. The cost per person is NT$29,900 (tax included), covering access to dozens of resort facilities, daily breakfast, and excess baggage fees for bicycles. Additionally, for every 6 to 10 riders, one guide will be assigned to instruct on bicycle disassembly and packing, as well as lead rides around Guam. Spaces are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. For registration, please contact the Republic of China Cycling Association or Pacific Islands International Travel Service.
