Yellow Rubber Duck Makes "Glorious" Mid-Autumn Arrival; Traffic Control Enforced in Surrounding Areas

The world-famous Yellow Rubber Duck will officially debut at Glory Pier during the Mid-Autumn Festival. To alleviate traffic congestion caused by the expected influx of visitors, the city’s Transportation Bureau will implement traffic controls in the surrounding roads.

The highly anticipated Yellow Rubber Duck will finally make its official debut at Glory Pier in Kaohsiung during the Mid-Autumn Festival. The Kaohsiung City Government estimates that a large number of tourists will flock to the area. To ensure smooth traffic around the venue, the city has formulated and will enforce a traffic control plan.

The controlled area will include the region south of Wufu 3rd Road, east to Chenggong 1st Road (excluding), west to Haian Road (including), south to Qingnian 2nd Road (excluding), north to Wufu 3rd Road (excluding), as well as the West Harbor Line bicycle path. Except for buses, shuttle buses, and accessible taxis, all other vehicles will be prohibited. Police may also adjust the controlled zone flexibly based on real-time traffic conditions. The control hours are daily from 10:00 AM to 12:00 AM during the Mid-Autumn holiday period (September 19–22); on weekdays, from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM; and on weekends and public holidays (including National Day), from 10:00 AM to 12:00 AM.

Chen Chin-fu, Director of the Transportation Bureau, stated that parking spaces around Glory Pier are limited. To prevent traffic jams caused by an excessive number of vehicles from affecting visitors’ experience, the Kaohsiung City Transportation Bureau has specially arranged free shuttle buses from Exit 1 of Kaohsiung MRT’s Central Park Station during holidays. The first bus departs at 10:30 AM, and the last bus leaves Glory Pier at 8:30 PM, with intervals of 10 to 20 minutes. The public is encouraged to make use of this service.

Additionally, during the exhibition period, the city will also increase bus services on routes passing near the exhibition area on weekdays. These include Red 18 (with a stop at Glory Pier), 0 South, 0 North, 11, 25, 33, Wufu Trunk Line 50, Circular East-West Line, 214, 76, and 77 (with a stop at Hsiongnuo Station). The Hsiongnuo bus stop is just a 5-minute walk from Glory Pier. The public can use an EasyCard to ride city buses and enjoy free transfers within 2 hours. Additionally, a 6 NTD discount is available for transfers between MRT and buses. The public is encouraged to take advantage of these options.
