Climate change threats need SUPPORT   Venice unveils new sculpture warning of the sinking city

The reality of climate change has already raised alarms in many regions, especially small island nations in the Pacific whose economies rely heavily on tourism, such as the Maldives. The water city of Venice has also been vigilant about this crisis, as rising sea levels due to increasing temperatures could submerge the city. To draw more attention, an Italian artist created the artwork “SUPPORT” to urge the public to confront this issue.

According to the Lonely Planet website,The sculpture by artist Lorenzo Quinn features two giant hands emerging from the water, holding up a building. This imagery conveys that it can both save and destroy the world. The artist stated that people should take the threat of climate change to world heritage sites seriously and reflect on what we can do to protect the planet.

This artwork is part of the prestigious European art exhibition “Venice Biennale,” which attracts around 500,000 visitors each time. The piece is displayed outside the Ca’ Sagredo Hotel until November 26.
