A 200-Year-Old Sacred Tree Witnesses Love: Romantic Wedding Contracts Signed at Alishan

Alishan in Chiayi is renowned overseas for its sea of clouds and sunrises, but did you know? It’s actually also a fantastic spot for wedding photoshoots—even getting married under the sacred trees. To promote this “romantic” brand, the Alishan National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has planned and launched the “2013 Alishan New Impression – Sacred Tree Weddings & Mountain-Sea Romance,” inviting 16 couples to sign lifelong contracts under the witness of a 230-year-old sacred tree in Alishan.

The “2013 Alishan Sacred Tree Weddings & Mountain-Sea Romance,” co-hosted by the Alishan National Scenic Area Administration and the Chiayi Forest District Office, and co-organized by the Chiayi County Government and the Yunlin-Kaohsiung-Tainan Coastal National Scenic Area Administration, among others, is set to take place on October 2nd. This year, six couples from mainland China, Malaysia, and Singapore will join a total of 16 couples from both home and abroad.

Chen Daisheng from the Recreation Section of the Alishan National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau mentioned that the Alishan Sacred Tree Weddings have entered their seventh year. This year, they’ve invited multiple wedding photography businesses and homestay operators, among others. In addition to hoping to boost the development of Chiayi City and County as well as the Alishan Scenic Area through the brand appeal of weddings and wedding photos, they also aim to achieve greater regional promotional impact. For instance, over the past two years, they’ve successfully attracted visitors from mainland China, Singapore, Malaysia, and other Southeast Asian regions, and they hope to draw even more international tourists in the future.
