The adorable Yellow Rubber Duck, whose charm continues to capture hearts, attracted over 100,000 visitors on its first day of display at Kaohsiung’s Glory Pier on the 19th. By the 24th, the cumulative number had surpassed 500,000. On the 25th, CNN featured a news feature describing how Taiwan has been conquered by the Yellow Rubber Duck, with this unprecedented spectacle drawing attention from media both in Taiwan and abroad.

According to rough estimates by the Kaohsiung City Government, the first day of display on the 19th drew over 200,000 visitors. The Yellow Rubber Duck’s ability to draw massive crowds in Taiwan not only prompted reports from international outlets such as the Associated Press and Agence France-Presse, but also led global media including The Washington Post, Voice of America, ABC (American Broadcasting Company), Bloomberg Businessweek, Japan’s Fuji News Network, and Euronews to publish extensive reports on their websites under the headline “Thousands welcome giant floating yellow rubber duck to Taiwan.” It is estimated that by the end of the exhibition

Lai Jui-long, Director of the Kaohsiung City Government Information Bureau, said that the Yellow Duck pairs beautifully with the magnificent harbor view of Glory Pier, making it an exceptionally picturesque photo spot. The exhibition of the Yellow Duck has also helped Kaohsiung once again capture the world’s attention on the international stage, following the APEC Cities Summit (APCS) and the Sports Dance Competition.
