Tainan Unveils 6 Hidden-Themed Buses to Delight Commuters

The Tainan City Government has promoted a bus rapid transit policy, categorizing the city’s buses into six vibrant themed lines: the Green Trunk Line’s Tumbler Bus, the Blue Trunk Line’s Seal Team 7 Bus, the Brown Trunk Line’s Animal Kingdom Bus, the Orange Trunk Line’s Fruit Bus, the Yellow Trunk Line’s Floral Bus, and the Red Trunk Line’s Cultural Architecture Bus. On the 2nd, the hidden-edition buses of each trunk line made their debut at the City Hall Plaza, giving the public plenty of photo opportunities.

In response to low ridership on former Tainan County buses, the Tainan City Government, in collaboration with Taiwan Railways, planned a public transport system and launched six main bus trunk lines. Each of the six themes also features one hidden-edition bus, adding an extra layer of fun for passengers. Many residents even wait specifically to ride these themed buses. Lin Yen-cheng, deputy director of the city’s Transportation Bureau, noted that the hidden-edition buses have become popular photo spots.

The Tainan City Government stated that the themed buses were gradually introduced starting in March this year. The number of services has increased from 735 to 1,290. In addition to the six main trunk lines, there are also 72 branch bus lines, aiming to improve urban traffic flow. Since implementing fares, the number of riders has risen from 774,553 to 1,261,274.
