Korean fried chicken became popular in Taiwan thanks to *My Love from the Star*. Korean fried chicken shops have been opening one after another on the streets. Although the craze has slightly cooled down over the past year, Huang Huisheng, the owner of the Chibi Maruko-chan themed restaurant, remains optimistic about the future of "fried chicken." In early April, he opened the Ligu Ligu Korean Fried Chicken Specialty Store in the eastern part of Taipei. In addition to classic Korean flavors, they plan to develop flavors unique to Taiwan in the future.

The specialty of Korean fried chicken is that it is marinated first. Huang Huisheng said they use kiwi juice for marination. In terms of flavors, there are classic original, signature Western-style, spicy Western-style, Western-style with kimchi, Korean spicy-numbing, rich cheese, and honey mustard. The whole chicken is priced between NT$410 and NT$450, while the boneless chicken consists entirely of chicken thigh meat for easier eating, with each portion priced between NT$350 and NT$390. Besides fried chicken, they also offer Korean rice balls and Korean rice cakes. Compared to other spicy stir-fried rice cakes, Ligu Ligu’s rice cakes are "fried," hence the name "bomb rice cakes."

Western-style sauce is a Korean sweet and spicy sauce, and each shop has its own recipe, but the base usually includes fruits and vegetables. Ligu Ligu’s Western-style sauce specially uses seasonal Taiwanese fruits for flavoring, such as sugarcane, and may use other seasonal fruits when summer arrives.

As for the most popular flavor during the trial operation period, Huang Huisheng said it was the Western-style with kimchi. This is a flavor they developed themselves, with a base of spicy Western-style sauce, then adding kimchi juice. When eaten with kimchi, it becomes especially refreshing. Additionally, the Korean spicy-numbing flavor is also a self-developed taste, combining Korean Western-style sauce with Thai spicy-numbing sauce, adding more Thai aromatic and numbing flavors. The rich cheese flavor is also very popular among women, using three different types of cheese.
