Standing on the sea of clouds to welcome the first light of the new year! Taipingshan Park in Yilan opens early on New Year’s Day

With about 40 days left until the end of 2017, the most anticipated event every New Year is welcoming the first sunrise of the year.To help travelers greet the first sunrise of the new year, Yilan Taiping Mountain Forest Recreation Area will open earlier at 3:00 a.m. on New Year’s Day. The Cui Feng Scenic Road will have timed traffic control from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Located 2000 meters above sea level, Mount Taiping has always been an excellent spot for watching the sunrise. Surrounded by mountains, sometimes layers of sea of clouds appear, resembling a fairyland. When the sunrise and sea of clouds occur together, the colorful and magnificent view is breathtaking.

According to the Central Weather Bureau, the estimated time of the first sunrise at Taiping Mountain on New Year’s Day 2018 is between 6:30 a.m. and 6:50 a.m. To help visitors welcome the first sunrise of 2018 at Taiping Mountain, the park will open early at 3:00 a.m. on that day. Visitors are advised to watch the sunrise from viewpoints such as the Taiping Mountain Villa Observation Deck, the Cui Feng Scenic Road 14K Observation Deck, and the Wangyangshan Trail Observation Deck.If the weather is fine, when watching the sunrise on Wangyang Mountain, you can also see the Lanyang Plain and Guishan Island in the Pacific Ocean.
The Lung Fu Shan Park Green Peak Scenic Road implements time-based traffic control from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM on New Year's Day. Vehicles are prohibited from entering the Green Peak Scenic Road after 6:30 AM until normal access resumes after 9:00 AM.Additionally, before 7:30 AM, vehicle access from Cui Feng Lake to Taiping Villa is restricted. Please follow the instructions and guidance of the on-duty police to ensure driving safety.
