Promoting Low-Carbon Green Cycling Tours — “Beautiful Beijing Taiwan Tour” Visits Sun Moon Lake

To invite Taiwanese people to visit Beijing and promote “Green Beijing,” the “Beautiful Beijing Taiwan Tour,” organized by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, invited a hundred-member green environmental cycling team to Taiwan for promotional activities. After a six-day island-wide tour, the final stop was Sun Moon Lake, where participants not only came to appreciate the beautiful scenery of “green hills embracing clear waters” but also introduced unique tourist attractions in Beijing to Taiwan.

The “Beautiful Beijing Taiwan Tour” started on the 19th from Taipei World Trade Center, with participants cycling along Yilan, Taitung, Kenting, and finally arriving at Sun Moon Lake in Nantou. Promotional events for Beijing tourism were held in Yilan, Kenting, and Sun Moon Lake. Yang Quan from the Beijing Tourism Association stated that the event, themed “Green, Low-Carbon, and Eco-Friendly Cycling Tourism,” aimed to use the island-wide cycling tour to invite Taiwanese tourists to explore Beijing by bicycle and appreciate its historical and cultural heritage such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the Summer Palace, which have developed over 3,000 years.

In addition, Yang Quan also mentioned that with the recent surge in cycling popularity, Sun Moon Lake boasts one of the world’s top ten most beautiful cycling routes — the lake loop cycling path. Although Beijing also has 10 excellent green cycling routes, the well-planned cycling infrastructure and widespread maintenance service stations are aspects that Beijing can learn from.
