With Halloween approaching, Kaohsiung’s Shoushan Zoo is hosting a “This ‘Spooky’ Gift Costume Carnival” on Sunday, October 27, to let both adults and children fully immerse themselves in the Halloween atmosphere. Visitors dressed in Halloween monster costumes can enter the zoo for free, and on the day of the event, a costumed “Shoushan Little Duck” will also appear in the zoo to celebrate Halloween with visitors.

Tired of seeing ghosts and monsters for Halloween? Shoushan Zoo invites visitors to spend an alternative Halloween with the adorable animals just before the spooky season. Zoo volunteers have specially made bat masks, witch hats, and carved large pumpkins to decorate the park. The popular yellow duck that has been with the people of Kaohsiung for a month will also transform into a “Q-version Halloween Little Duck” at the water-friendly plaza. But will it appear as a witch, vampire, or Batman? The zoo says the answer will be revealed on the day of the event.

The zoo stated that on the day of the carnival, visitors who upload photos of themselves with the Halloween Little Duck to the Shoushan Zoo Facebook fan page will be eligible to receive one limited-edition souvenir on-site, with the first 100 entries qualifying. The zoo will also select 10 of the most Halloween-themed, spooky-and-funny photos uploaded to give out small, beautifully crafted gifts.

In addition, the animals in Shoushan Zoo will also be spoiled on this day. The zoo has prepared a special Halloween feast for the animals. In the morning, animal caretakers will place delicious fruits inside hollowed-out large pumpkins and deliver them to the primate area for a feeding performance. It’s expected to quickly fill up the memory space in visitors’ cameras once again.

The zoo will not miss out on the classic Halloween activity “Trick or Treat.” On the day of the event, anyone who likes the zoo’s Facebook fan page will be among the first 100 to receive Halloween candy at the service desk. In the morning, the “Zuyun Cultural Music and Dance Troupe,” which frequently performs around the world, will be invited to perform indigenous music and dance. Shoushan Zoo invites the public to spend a different kind of Halloween at the zoo during the last weekend holiday of the glorious October.
